Team
Armando "mondo" Andrade
Program Director
With more than 30 years of experience committted to rescue, security and emergency preparation,, Armando sought to create a team of professional and passionate individuals to train, educate and mentor the next generation of future rescuers.
Armando's experience is unmatched and is a leading driver for the production of the program.
Much of his knowledge comes from his past experience and completed certifications, working as an International Police Liaison Officer, SWAT, Tactical- EMT, PSD, and Instructor in the United States and Overseas and Emergency Preparedness Officer. He was awarded the Rescuer of the Year Award, Ensenada Fire Department and a Lifesaving Award from a law enforcement agency. Certifications received include, State of California EMT, TEMS, CONTOMS, PHTLS, ACLS, PALS, CE Solutions as an EMT and have successfully completed various of courses with American Red Cross as a Lifeguard and BLS Instructor, American Heart Association, the International School of Tactical Medicine and with several other state and federal law enforcement agencies.
Adolfo Loya
Instructor
Adolfo is a certified lifeguard for both the State of Baja California Lifeguard and Rescue Association and the Ensenada Fire Department, Aquatic Division. He has studied oceanology at the University of Baja California, UABC.
Between volunteering, teaching, and spearheading educational rescue talks and presentations, Adolfo credits the overall success of his lifeguarding career to the hard work and dedication he has put into this lifestyle. In 2015, he has been awarded Rookie of the Year by the Association of Lifeguards and Rescuer of the state of Baja California upon the completion of courses in aquatic rescue. He was also awarded Lifeguard of the Year from the Ensenada Fire Department, Lifeguard Division in 2018.
He enjoys keeping active and has an immense love for the ocean, with freediving being one of his favorite hobbies.
Roman Cortes
Lead Instructor
Roman is the team's youngest lifeguard. He is certified by the International Surf Life Saving Association and holds a rapid Water Rescue Certification. Roman is currently a lifeguard for the Ensenada Fire Department under the Aquatic Rescue Division, with more than 7 years of experience combined, working and volunteering.
He loves to swim, skate and also play and compete in team sports. On his free time, Roman, continues to train and compete in triathlons, in addition to having attended two Olympic games.
Christopher Figueroa
Instructor
Christopher has a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education, having a strong focus in educating and teaching sports. He is certified by the International Certificate of Aquatic Rescue (ISLA) and has more than a decade of experience in ocean safety.
As a certified triathlon level 1 coach, Christopher is the children's and youth coach of the Titans Team in Ensenada, of which he has led three of his students to National B, two to Elite class and one to Paralympics. Previously, he has held positions such as the head coach of swimming for the International Games of the Special Olympics in Panama, organizer for the juniors division of Open Water Development Events, head swimming coach for the XV edition of the IMSS Special Olympics National Games as well as the Michael Phelps clinic in Los Cabos.
