Hi, my name is AyslinYaneth "Aylin" linGuzman 

I’m 15 years old from Ensenada, Baja California Mexico and I have been swimming since I was 7 years old with Coach Christopher Figueroa.

 

In the Summer of 2019, I was in the Jr. lifeguard program and in December of 2019, I was on vacation in the State of Chiapas, Mexico with my family. In the morning of December 2nd, we were at a local beach enjoying ourselves when after 15 minutes of being there, one of the bathers started to scream for help because two kids were drowning. It was a boy of 12 years old and a girl of 7 years old. I looked and without thinking I ran to try to help them with the knowledge I learned in the Jr, Lifeguard program. There were no lifeguards on the beach.

 

The boy was unconscious by the time we were at the sand, so I proceeded to give him CPR with the help of my father. After the second set of CPR, the boy reacted, vomiting water from his mouth. I moved him to his side so he could cough the water out and breathe on his own. I asked him some questions to check if he was okay and he was answering me. To my right side, I saw the boy’s sister who also needed help. I placed her to her side so she could cough the water out and breathe easier.

 

After 45 minutes passed, the ambulance arrived and I gave all the information to the paramedics.
